GIC rate alerts: the best verified rates, the month you need them
Every rate on this site is read off the issuer's own page each month. The alert sends you the result, and a reminder 30 days before your own GIC matures, when the decision is actually yours to make.

Why a month before matters
A GIC that matures without instructions is usually renewed by the bank into the same term at whatever it posts that day. In September 2026 that is the difference between 2.75% at a big-five bank and 4.30% at the best rate on the table on a five-year term: on $50,000 over five years, roughly $4,500 of interest.
Thirty days is enough time to open an account elsewhere, which is the step that takes longest, and still give the maturity instruction before the deadline.
